Pune Author Vows To 'Never Fly Again' With Air India, Prefers Bullock Cart; Airline Responds

Image
Aditya Kondawar, a Pune-based author and Vice President of the startup 'Complete Circle,' recently experienced a trip from Bengaluru to Pune that has left him vowing never to fly with Air India again. Kondawar took to social media platform X to share his ordeal, stating that he would rather take a bullock cart than ever board another Air India flight. A Troubling Journey Kondawar's grievances began with the delayed departure of his flight IX 974 from Bengaluru to Pune, which was scheduled to take off at 9:50 PM but did not depart until around 12:15-12:20 AM. In his post, he detailed the issues he faced, noting the foul odor and the dirty, stained seats on the Air India Express flight. "I have immense respect for the Tata group and their leaders. I expect perfection from them always, and this is a disaster, honestly speaking," Kondawar wrote. He added that after enduring a long day, walking through a large factory, and multiple management interactions, he finally r...

Deploying Machine Learning Models: A Step-by-Step Tutorial

Image
Model deployment is the critical phase where trained machine learning models are integrated into practical applications. This process involves setting up the necessary environment, defining how input data is fed into the model, managing the output, and ensuring the model can analyze new data to provide accurate predictions or classifications. Let’s explore the step-by-step process of deploying machine learning models in production. Step 1: Data Preprocessing Effective data preprocessing is crucial for the success of any machine learning model. This step involves handling missing values, encoding categorical variables, and normalizing or standardizing numerical features. Here’s how you can achieve this using Python: Handling Missing Values Missing values can be dealt with by either imputing them using strategies like mean values or by deleting the rows/columns with missing data. python Copy code   # Load your data df = pd.read_csv( 'your_data.csv' )   # Handle missi...

Silent Layoffs Grip Indian IT Sector, Impact Over 20,000 Employees

Image
The Indian IT sector, a crucial pillar of the country’s economy, is witnessing a silent yet significant wave of layoffs. According to data shared by the All India IT & ITeS Employees' Union (AIITEU), around 20,000 tech professionals lost their jobs in these 'silent' layoffs throughout 2023. This article delves into the phenomenon, its impact, and the underlying reasons.   Personal Stories Amid Silent Layoffs Aakash, a 31-year-old IT professional, recounts the day in late 2023 when he received an email from his manager and an HR executive at Teradata, a cloud analytics and data platform firm, asking him to join a virtual meeting. During the brief 15-20 minute call, he was given two options: either accept termination with a lower payout or resign voluntarily and receive four months of salary.   “When I asked if I could get some time to decide, they said I had to inform them during the meeting itself. I quickly spoke to my cousin and decided to opt for the resi...

Student Visa Crackdown Begins Easing Canada Population Gains

Image
Canada's recent crackdown on its higher education industry is beginning to show tangible effects, notably reducing the number of foreign students entering the country. This shift marks the onset of a potential easing in Canada’s rapid population growth, which has surged significantly post-pandemic. Early Indicators of Decline in Foreign Student Numbers Statistics Canada reported a drop of 24,594 in the number of individuals holding only study permits in the first quarter of the year, a stark contrast to the decline of 16,003 during the same period last year. This reduction is among the first signs that Canada’s aggressive approach to curbing student visa approvals is starting to take effect. Impact on Temporary Immigration The reduction in foreign student numbers has also contributed to a slowdown in the overall growth of temporary immigration. In the first quarter, Canada added 131,810 non-permanent residents, marking one of the lowest quarterly net increases since ear...

What Jobs Will AI Replace First?

Image
Artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer a futuristic concept; it’s a reality that is transforming industries and reshaping the job market at an unprecedented pace. While AI offers tremendous benefits in terms of efficiency and productivity, it also poses a significant threat to certain types of jobs. In this article, we will explore which jobs AI is likely to replace first, focusing on roles that involve routine, structured tasks easily automated by intelligent systems. Data Entry and Administrative Tasks One of the first job categories in AI's crosshairs is data entry and administrative tasks . AI excels in processing and organizing vast amounts of data quickly and with precision, making roles centered around data entry, document scanning, and information sorting highly vulnerable. These tasks are repetitive and rule-based, ideal candidates for automation. Intelligent systems can input, organize, and manage data more efficiently than humans, reducing errors and freeing up ...
